Initial pre-op examination
Initial pre-op examination - Your first step to clear vision.
A number of tests and examinations are carried out prior to the LASIK eye surgery, which last about an hour at Lasik Germany.
The initial pre-op examination – step by step
First, your ophthalmologist tests your visual acuity to measure the sharpness of your vision, using the latest computer technology. They determine not only your prescription, but also pupil size and corneal thickness. If you are a candidate for laser surgery, the data will be entered as basic information for the actual surgery.
Some of the tests during the initial pre-op examination require dilated pupils. We will give you eye drops that make your eyes sensitive to light for a short period of time. The increased light sensitivity may affect your ability to drive. Please remember that you will not be able to drive if your pupils have been dilated for your consultation.
Prior to the initial pre-op examination: Stop wearing contact lenses.
Please remember: You should stop wearing soft contact lenses at least 1 week prior to the initial pre-op examination and 2 weeks, if you are wearing rigid lenses. Why is that? Laser surgery relies on the absolute accuracy of the instruments. Even the smallest unevenness due to contact lenses would distort the results.
